Mt. Everest is the tallest mountain in the world. Enough said. Nelson attempted this peak in 2011, joining the Peak Freaks Expedition team along with 12 other climbers and Sherpa team 25 strong. Even though he was strong throughout the whole climb, he ran into some equipment problems as he climbed above the Death Zone, only a couple hours from the summit. His oxygen mask froze. Climbing up to the South Summit (28,700 ft) with the issue seriously deteriorated his health and he could no longer continue up the remaining 300-or-so vertical feet to the summit. Luckily he made the wise decision to turn around, save his life, and save the summit for another time....2013.
